Stay healthy, play tennis !

In a recent scientific review of Sports Medicine, an article has shown than practicing racquet sports were significantly reducing all-cause mortality and risks of cardio-vascular disease (CVD).

“Participation in racquet sports (including badminton, tennis and squash) showed significant risk reduction of 47% in all cause mortality and 59% reduction in CVD mortality. To the best of our knowledge little comparable data are available. A previous systematic review identified two studies on tennis and two on squash. One on tennis was a prospective cohort study, which showed decreased CVD risk among tennis players but no effect among racquetball players.

This is a great progress in sports sciences who should support the practice of physical activity as an effective form of health enhancing.
